HONORING THE LEGACY

Welcome to Legacy Cultural Learning Community, a place where we celebrate and share our tribal languages and culture through the arts.

Muscogee-Seminole and Cherokee artist, Dana Tiger, founded Legacy Cultural Learning Community to offer “art making” as part of the daily lives of Native youth.  Since 2002, Legacy has provided art opportunities ranging from outdoor youth and elder camps where traditional foods are prepared on an open fire, to the production of film by 5th through 8th grade camera and technical directors.

Every project has the goal of preserving tribal heritage. The stories and life ways of our ancestors provide learning opportunities for strengthening our sense of self and belonging in our communities.

Legacy’s success comes from the compassionate mentoring by community artists, craftspeople and ones who know the languages and stories of our people.  Success is measured by the many artworks created by our youth and the value attributed to these works in the form of awards, recognition and accomplishment for a job well done.

Art is forever.  It tells the story of who we are, where we came from, and where we are going.

Please support Legacy Cultural Learning Community, for our cultural heritage is the future for Native youth.
